If you want to SHIFT Try these 3 things

Learn how to control where your ball doesn't go.

If golf is a game of misses why do we pursue perfect swings regardless of where the misses go?  If you learn to control where the ball is not going to go it is a lot easier to navigate the course. Start your mastery by trying some half side drills on the range.  Pick a target line and try and keep your shots as close to it as possible while keeping every ball on one side.  You are going to find that one side is much more comfortable than the other. Now you can take that comfort to the course and save shots by just picking the more comfortable half.  Course management starts with self management.

See It, Feel It, Trust It

Use the mantra method to marry a mental routine to your physical one.  As you are lining up the club to the ball say See It.  As you are settling in with your feet hips and shoulders say Feel It. When you start the club back say Trust it.  Actually saying these phrases engages your brain and replaces the thoughts that get in the way.  Don't worry you won't be the only one talking to yourself on the golf course and at least you will be saying the right things.

Bring the course to the range.

One of the keys to improving your execution is to practice it.  Instead of hitting ball after ball with the same club try hitting the shots that you will need on the course.  Use your imagination and hit a different shot each time.  Don't be afraid to mix in a little short game.  Variability, feedback, and consequences are the key to effective practice.
