You just created a clear intention for the shot you want to hit. Do you have a method to turn that thought into the desired physical action? Using visualization, practice swing feels, or verbal descriptions can help you use the shot to create the swing. If you try and use the swing to create the shot it you are going to look and feel like this guy.
It's the moment of truth, it is time to make a swing. In other words it is time to trust your routine. We are going to start you off with the mantra method (See it, Feel it, Trust it). This is how you replace the lemons and match a mental routine to your physical one. No matter your skill level, this is how you manage the noise and put yourself in the place where good swings come from.
This is your most vulnerable, or possibly your most valuable time as a golfer. Will you ruthlessly judge your results and start bouncing around the emotional landscape like a ping pong ball? Or, will you describe and process the results in a way that is already getting you ready for the most important shot in golf...the next one
The best players in the world face the same interferences that you do. The difference is that they have routines to help them replace their lemons. Elite players don't trust their swings, they trust their routines. Full swing, short game, putting stroke...the secret is not in the dirt, it's in the routines.
These are your new "mechanics" and they don't just magically happen on the course. You have to practice them. Experiment and build these processes using the elements and sequencing that works for you.
Script it
-write down the mental and physical elements of your pre and post swing routines
Walk and talk
-Do slow motion walk throughs that match the physical motion with a verbalization of the mental.
Dry fire
-Full rehearsal with no ball or with a ball into a net
Full reps on the range
-start from the begining on each rep
Partial reps on the range
-We know it's a pain to go through the whole thing so start at the step in and finish it right
Stop working on your swing and start working on your game!
